Heads up!

Okay, so I’ve duplicated the first four posts from here on Tumblr on WordPress since I think they’re more wordy than the typical text post on here and now my posts of that type will be posted over there. But don’t worry! They’ll be imported back over here with just an intro and a link back to WordPress.

Every blog system has its perks and its drawbacks. To me, one of the perks over here was that I could send my updates right to Twitter (though I now suppose there are 3rd party tools that let you do that for any blog). I also like the various kinds of posts that can be created here like video, audio, etc. The drawbacks are that commenting can be annoying (Open ID commenting isn’t supported at the moment, so I had to install Disqus) and that longer posts can’t be at least partially hidden by a cut or “read more” link.

So like I said, WordPress will be for my content-heavy posts. I envision this Tumblr, aside from the imported WordPress feed, will have more quick posts (mostly images for the forseeable future) when I’m in New Zealand and also my eight weeks in New York City. If you’re reading this elsewhere (and I do know the content is being replicated elsewhere through syndicated accounts or what not), leave a comment on the other site and I can give you the link if you want to have just the Wordpress posts on that other site. (Though it seems as though the “More” tag doesn’t have any effect on how you’ll view the page when not on the actual home page for the WordPress, you’ll see all the content, which is unfortunate. Just a warning there. Also my apologies for the France post to come up through there, I didn’t get to delete it fast enough for it to not get caught by RSS.) I can imagine the other site could get cluttered if I utilise this as quick posts.

Oh and I might do a round up of the quick posts from here over the course of a day — or a week depending on how many quick posts there are here in a day — over on WordPress, but I’ll delete the imported post in question when that’s the case. No need to see content twice.

Thanks for reading in any event. Time to eat lunch and then my friend Emily and I are going to watch the four episodes of Angel season 4 on disc 4 before my dentist appointment at 4PM. (Man, could I say “four” in that sentence anymore than I already did?)
